“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”
-Susan Sontag
Hello, my name is Matt Arroyo. I am a 22 year old photographer and music industry professional based in Southern California. My main focus is in concert photography and documentary photography for musicians. At an early age, I fell in love with taking photos as a way of preserving memories of my family that will last the span of time so to speak. Photography to me is a window into that past that can carry someone’s story and feelings. I started taking photos of nature just as a hobby then I realized how powerful photography can be in a documentary like setting. I now take photos for anyone who wants to preserve their memories in a way of images. From artists wanting to document recording sessions and their concert dates to scenic sunset photos I'm able to do it all. Outside of taking photos, I enjoy spending my time learning to write and produce original music. Music and Photography are both things that are an integral part of my life.
